Our Story
HOW WE MET
In the summer of 2021, Matt’s mom, Barbara was playing a round of golf at Maryland Golf and Country Club, with Tami, a close friend of Jamie’s mom and family. It didn’t take long before a few pictures and numbers were exchanged on the course, setting up Matt and Jamie on their first date.
They met for drinks at Blue Hill Tavern in Brewers Hill and shortly after, grabbed dinner at Café Gia’s in Little Italy – still one of their favorite places!
Over the next few months, Matt and Jamie spent time learning everything about each other and falling in love. Jamie was quickly introduced to Phish, going to her first 4 concerts in 8 days, and Matt was introduced to Sadie, Jamie’s mini labradoodle with a big personality! Every moment since has only brought them closer and they can’t wait for this next chapter together!
THE PROPOSAL
A week away from the annual Citrano family vacation in Puerto Vallarta, Matt and Jamie were getting excited – talking about plans, what to pack, and checking the weather (forecast of rain for the first time in 16 years… and no, it did not get them down!). Jamie asked if they could plan one night to grab dinner alone, and Matt said he would take care of it. Little did Jamie know; Matt already made a reservation and had been planning that dinner for the last three weeks!
On the morning of February 15, 2024, Matt finally revealed the surprise dinner reservation at Le Kliff, the most romantic, beautiful restaurant they’ve ever seen! Matt told Jamie she needed to be ready at 4:30 for the hour taxi ride around the bay. They joined his family for a quick happy hour and then headed off to the restaurant, but not before Michael, Matt’s nephew, gave Jamie her Spiderman Valentine (tattoo included).
Once they arrived, Matt shared the next surprise. He hired a photographer as a thoughtful Valentine’s Day gift, knowing that Jamie wanted to take more pictures together this year.
The photographer spent a half hour with them, taking photos of Jamie and Matt at different look out points, before the big moment. While Jamie was turned away, looking out over the water, Matt got down on one knee. As she turned back around, Jamie received the most incredible surprise of them all – Matt asking her to be his wife!
Jamie could not wait to say yes and as Matt put on the ring, he shared the final surprise, “this isn’t your ring.” The actual ring was ready as they landed in Mexico, so Matt and his sister-in-law, Catherine searched Amazon to find a stand-in at the last minute. The evening continued with a few more photos, emotional phone calls, a delicious dinner, and celebrations with Matt’s family!
When Jamie and Matt got home and picked up the real engagement ring, Jamie knew she would always cherish the one from Amazon and Matt was grateful she did not put on her Spiderman Valentine tattoo before pictures.
